A week after the body of Russian teenager Polina Rahman was found in a Paceville valley, the police have officially confirmed her identification.

The decomposed body of the 17-year-old student was found not far from Villa Rosa, bordering Pembroke, on July 24, a week after she went missing. Police sources had said documents found in a handbag indicated she was Ms Rahman.

The police said yesterday that, after “further tests”, it resulted that the body belonged “to the person reported missing to the police – Polina Rahman”.

She had arrived in Malta with her friend on July 15 to learn English for two weeks and was last seen in the early hours of July 17 after attending a welcome party in Paceville.

The police believe Ms Rahman had been walking along Prof. W. Ganado Street in Pembroke when she tripped and fell to her death in the valley below.

Foreigners found her body and an autopsy revealed she died from a fractured skull sustained in the fall.
