The ruins of the White Rocks, which are still waiting for a developer, are often in the news.
But I know of other modern ruins that offer a spectacle of desolation to all who pass by them, as I do frequently throughout the year.
I am refering to the ruins of the Jerma Palace Hotel in Marsascala, the only major hotel in the southeast of Malta.
It is the duty of the state, in a small country like Malta, where space is so limited, to take the initiative and do something useful with this picturesque piece of land on which the hotel was built. And this land is the property of the state!
In my opinion, this land is situated in an excellent area to serve as a residential centre for senior citizens, who could live there in their hundreds.
Malta is too small to permit for whole years modern ruins, just to look at them and see them becoming vandalised!
