A Nigerian refugee was this morning remanded in custody after he pleaded not guilty to simple possession of cannabis.

Saheed Olowoshile, 34 who lives in St Paul’s Bay and is married and has a child, had the cannabis for his own personal use. He also has a medical condition that was not revealed.

Magistrate Miriam Hayman ordered a pre-sentencing report to see if the man had an addiction problem, She also asked for evidence of his marriage to establish the ties he had in Malta.
