I live in Scotland and am lucky enough to spend almost half of my time in sunny Malta.
Although there are many things that are in need of vast improvement, I believe praise should be given, whenever due.
I do not know if it is only in Mellieħa, but our rubbish is picked up on a daily basis, except Sunday. This is a real bonus when we are used to a weekly or even fortnightly service in the UK.
One small suggestion I would like to make is on the recycling front.
My family are avid recyclers and I am glad to see most of my Maltese neighbours are too.
Instead of recycled goods being picked up on Tuesday and Thursday, would it be possible to implement this three times a week, perhaps adding a Saturday?
I feel this would encourage everyone to recycle more because, by the time Monday arrives, we have bags full or recyclable goods and I am sure many people put it out with the normal rubbish, just to clear the house.
This is just a small suggestion to try to help this poor old tired and abused planet we occupy.
