On July 14 – French National Day – the French Ambassador to Malta Michel Vandepoorter and his wife welcomed Maltese and foreign dignitaries together with members of the local French community to their residence in Żebbuġ.

Presidents Emeritus Ugo Mifsud Bonnici and Eddie Fenech Adami, Deputy Prime Minister Tonio Borg as well as members of the government and MPs were among the 400 people who gathered in the gardens of the French Ambassador’s residence.

Speeches by the French Ambassador and Acting President Anton Tabone were followed by the Maltese and French national hymns.

The reception took place in the gardens of the French Ambassador’s residence, which were given a touch of the French tricolour and where the crowd was treated to live jazz music and traditional accordion music all through the evening.
