The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA) has inaugurated its new website www.mccaa.org.mt, which was launched by Fair Competition, Small Business and Consumers Minister Jason Azzopardi together with MCCAA chairman Francis Farrugia.
The website incorporates information from the four entities of the MCCAA, namely: the Office for Competition, the Office for Consumer Affairs, the Technical Regulations Division and the Standards and Metrology Institute.
The website is another tool to reach the authority’s main objectives: to safeguard consumers’ best interest, promote sound business practices and to adopt and co-ordinate standards in relation to products or services.
Besides providing information on the role of the authority and its entities, through the ‘News’ section, the site will keep the public updated on activities organised by the authority.
It will include public warnings, press releases, updated lists of medicines at reduced prices, decisions by the Consumer Claims Tribunal, current consultations and organisations certified by the authority.
The website will also update the public on the latest activities regarding the Trust You Scheme. Visitors to the site will have access to copies of all Għażla magazines issued to date.
The website will provide downloadable forms that may be used by consumers who want to file a complaint with the authority. There will be forms that may be utilised by businesses to register products they want to import.
The site contains the latest information on the new EU regulations and directives in competition sectors, consumer affairs, food and labelling and product safety.
