A foreigner who lives in Malta was in a critical condition after being stabbed in his lower abdomen during a fight yesterday afternoon.

Officers found the man dragging himself towards Marsa police station in Balbi Street at around 6.30 p.m.

They had been told he was nearby, though not where the fight started.

An ambulance was called and the man was transferred to hospital.

A trail of blood could be seen on the bridge that forms part of St Thomas Street and in a public garden behind the station.

An inquiry is being held.
