More operations being held
A total of 19,409 operations were held between January and May, an increase of 1,009 over the same period last year, Health Minister Joe Cassar said.
He said that in the past 12 months 43,747 operations were held, an increase of 1,952 on the previous year and 11,000 more than in the last year at St Luke’s Hospital.
The increase in operations was the result of a strategic plan aimed to reduce waiting time for patients, the minister said.

Good job to the minister and all those that were part of this strategic plan. But I still think that the problem of bed shortages need to be addressed. Why don't they build another block instead of were the heliped is today (however, after works on BIO park and oncology centre are finished).

I agree, there need to be more space given to bedding but why build it instead of the helipad? The helipad is also important and needed and should be positioned where it is, namely as near as possible to the emergency section.
