Caceres: Juventus are set to lose defender Martin Caceres for several weeks after hurting his knee in the Trofeo TIM on Saturday. The Uruguayan slipped at the Bari stadium and sprained his left knee. Caceres is feared to have damaged his ligaments and that could mean he will be out for action for up to six months. Juventus beat Milan 1-0 but lost 1-0 to tournament winners Inter in the 45-minute mini-matches.

Mintal: Nurnberg beat Borussia Dortmund 4-2 in Marek Mintal’s testimonial late Saturday as the former Slovakia striker was given a fitting tribute by over 31,000 fans in the Franken-stadion. Mintal left Nurnberg two years ago after eight years in which he became a fans’ favourite, not least for winning the top goalscorer award in 2005, but also for his contribution to the side’s DFB-Pokal triumph two seasons later.

Assuncao: Paulo Assuncao has joined Sao Paulo after reaching an agreement to terminate his contract with Atletico Madrid. The 32-year-old midfielder joined Atletico from Porto in 2008 and during his four seasons at the Vicente Calderon he made 139 appearances and helped the Rojiblancos win the 2010 and 2012 Europa Leagues and the UEFA Super Cup.

Elabdellaoui: Manchester City’s Omar Elabdellaoui has joined Feyenoord on a season-long loan deal. The Norway Under-21 international has yet to make an appearance for City’s first team but was an unused substitute in December 2010’s Europa League group game against Juventus

Miyaichi: Ajax coach Frank de Boer has ruled out making an ap-proach to sign Arsenal winger Ryo Miyaichi on a season-long loan deal. Miyaichi has been tipped to be loaned out again by Arsene Wenger in order to gain more experience. However, a return to the Eredivisie with Ajax appears to be unlikely after De Boer confirmed he is no longer considering a move for the 19-year-old. “In my opinion, he is not an option anymore,” he said.

Fagner: Brazilian full-back Fagner is set to leave Vasco da Gama to join Wolfsburg, according to a report by German daily Bild citing the president of the Brazilian club. “I’ve spoken to the people involved and the situation is irreversible,” said Vasco president Roberto Dinamite. “Fagner has made a decision and we have to respect his wishes.”
