Bank of Valletta is supporting the Maltese Diabetes Association in an event aimed at promoting awareness on diabetes.

The aim of the association is to pursue education campaigns and prevent complications arising from this condition, which currently affects around 55 million people in Europe.

Vanessa Borg, from the bank’s marketing department, said statistics showed there were a substantial number of people who were affected by the condition and who were unaware of it.

Chris Delicata, the association’s vice-president and treasurer, spoke about the association’s involvement in society.

“Led by a team of dedicated people who either have diabetes themselves or are parents of affected children, the association’s scope is to keep up-to-date with developments that have taken place in the world of science,” Mr Delicata said.

The association also offers family support to relatives of people with diabetes, organises monthly talks and offers reduced prices for diabetes-related products.
