IT company Computime has confirmed its involvement as Platinum Plus sponsors in the upcoming Lifecycle Challenge 2012, a project the company believes reflects its own core values for good teamwork.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Computime will be sponsoring the Betfair Lifecycle Challenge and the second time in which the company will have a senior member of its staff serving as an active member of the support staff of the Lifecycle Organisation.

Lifecycle is one in a string of charitable and cultural initiatives sponsored by Computime. On previous occasions, the company has contributed cash donations and software support to Dar tal-Providenza, the Misurata Fund, the Notarial Archives and the Lions Club National Library Book Restoration Project, among others.

Founded in 1999, the Lifecycle Challenge grew from the efforts of a group of dedicated volunteers who have endeavoured to raise awareness on renal disease.

Furthermore, the annual Lifecycle aims to generate funds for medical equipment at the Renal Unit and strives for improved quality of life of patients suffering from the debilitating illness by allowing them access to the highest standards of healthcare.

This year’s 14th edition of the Lifecycle Challenge will involve a gruelling 1,900-kilometre journey from Brisbane to Melbourne in the land of Down Under. Despite being the farthest destination from home to date, Lifecycle already has some 60 confirmed participants from all walks of life.

Cyclists with different levels of ability and other members of the support team, including medical doctors have signed on to provide logistical support and to help with common ailments participants are likely to experience during the testing 11-day venture in Australia.

A director from Computime who is also a member of the Lifecycle back-up team, said: “We are glad to be able to contribute to this cause in any way possible.

“Last year, Lifecycle collected nearly €120,000 from a number of companies and individuals. This year we hope to match that amount or exceed it and realise the goal of acquiring a plasma electroforated machine for renal patients at Mater Dei Hospital.”
