Attention people. So i was thrown off my by a reckless woman driver driving out on a stop sign. Ok, luckily, myself and my wife did,nt get hurt so i picked up the bike and drove after the car which i managed only a few meteres up the road. I stopped and shouted, giving her a piece of my mind under the circumstances. Guess what, i'm being arraigned for aggrevating the woman, which is a blatant lie by miles.

"The police said that it was likely that the vehicle that hit the man was blue." If that's all the available info I hardly think this case will ever be solved.

Want to bet that if the culprit is caught he will get off with a small fine, a suspended sentence, a two week driving ban and a slap on the wrist???

Lawless country. No compassion from the authorities, suspended sentences. Probably another unlicensed, uninsured driver, or maybe a coward not man enough to stand up for his actions. Disgraceful behaviour.

This road deserves a better and safer traffic management system, most drivers use it as a racing circuit!
I should know I live there !

"The police are looking for a vehicle .........."
Prevention is better than cure.... !!
When are we going to see more police presence on our roads to book, fine, and deal with the worsening situation on our roads ?

What not ANOTHER HIT & RUN in Malta? i thought someone said that some torusit was filming the area at the time, sure he or she must have the incident on camera...that doesn't lie, the police might be interested and view the incident on lenses. Peoele that hit andd run must have something to hide beit drunkeness-drugs or no driver's licence/insurance or a stolen vehicle, or even a foreigner that shouldn't be in the couintry.

more and more of these incidents will continue not due to reckless driving but solely due to the lack of laws protecting citizens from recklessness. A hit and run is a serious crime and in some countries carries a severe sentence for as much as 10-15 years.
I have absoluetly no doubt that if this driver is caught a suspended driver's licence for about a year and a slap on the wrist (like a 5 month jail term) is all he/she will get.

George you are dead wrong!
In the case of the hit-and-run of the Mosta jogger, the driver was found guilty.
All he got was a suspended license for one year, 3 years suspended jail (which means he won't do them) and ordered to pay court proceedings. NONE of which he has even started on, because he's appealing the case. This happened 4 years ago btw.
It pays to follow these things if only to know how badly your chances of seeking justice are, should it happen to you.

When I see "hit and run" i vomit. My daughter's case still pending decision and mind you two respectable citizens that saw the accident testified and signed the testimony and for the arbitor this is not enough.... everyone is to run according to my experience.... still waiting after many sittings and more than a year..it is a shame especially that in a more complicated case the decidion was taken in just one sitting....

Good luck C Muscat!
In the case of the hit-and-run of the 59-year-old jogger from Mosta, the driver was found guilty in court after FOUR years.

I hope this man recovers & the perpetrator is caught. This 'hit & run' business is becoming frequent, unlike the visits by patrolling police in all the St.Paul's Bay area.

Do you mean that there actually are frequent police patrols in St Paul's Bay? I wish I could say the same about Qawra... I live in Qawra Road and every evening sit out on the balcony.... very very rarely do I see a patrol car going by. In my opinion the Qawra Police Station respond very well when required, however we do need constant patrols to discourage these egoistic drivers.

I got hit from behind last Saturday and i was in the piazza in Sliema going home. I was such in shock i just called my husband and he helped me limp home which was only 2 mins away. The woman was very sorry and did offer me medical assistance, but i didn't want to. I did call for an ambulance myself and ended up with damaged ligaments. Drivers need to be more careful. As for the hit and run, that's really bad, that person has no conscious or compassion. Sorry about the old man, i hope he gets better.

"old man" he was 64 not 94 I to hope that he completely recovers but blame cant always be put on the vehicle drivers some pedestrians have no regard for traffic at times and do try and beat traffice by dashing across a road I am a driver and this has happened to me on several occassions though I am in no way infering that it happened here

This was a 'hit and run'.
So yes I would throw the book at any driver who decides to keep going on his merry way.

If the driver is caught. No doubt the court case will just be added, to the list of many similar if not more serious cases of hit and run (years in some cases). Whilst the case is pending he/she will still drive.

unfortunately there have been several occassions when I have been driving here in Malta that I have gone across a crossing only to see someone standing on it completly hidden by the fact that a vehicle was parked on the edge of the crossing which is a Traffic offence but how many times do you see a warden do anything about it.......Never
