A new experience

I was invited to attend the annual concert given by theL’Isle Adam band club, one of the oldest clubs in Malta.

The pleasant setting of Saqqajja Square in Rabat lent itself so well for an enjoyable musical programme. The highlight of the band’s programme, in our opinion, was the music composed by Jacob De Haan. The singer Ritienne and the Ta’ Verna folk band entertained us.

In this day and age, I appreciate the commitment and sacrifices taken by all and the committee, led by Massimo Azzopardi, their president, along with the understanding of their spouses. Last but certainly not least, Maestro Joseph Galea, whose enthusiasm is as fresh now as when he first started 25 years ago.

Thank you all for keeping up the tradition of celebrating the feast of St Peter and St Paul. One may no longer take volunteer work for granted. Many traditions depend on the passion, commitment and sacrifice which is becoming increasingly difficult for most due to so little spare time in our modern lives.

Thank you all for the collective effort in keeping the tradition alive!
