Open letter and plea to our dear, dear President
That this state of affairs cannot go on in our parliament is more than pettily obvious.
JPOS and Franco Debono have now made it blatantly clear that they do not, and will not, support the PN any more and they could therefore vote against Government once they get the chance. This is commendable of these lords of reason.
As you can see Jesmond Mugliett, although part of the renegade trio, has not whimpered and will not commit himself. I imagine he will ask you to keep him on the fence of the new Parliament building as he loves seeing the world from that vantage point.
These three great men have made of Parliament a great show. Even while it is in recess, and we are in the summer hazy heat, they still manage to sound upright and bright, unlike the likes of RCC, GonziSpin and the rest of the clique that is slowly disintegrating. Therefore even if it is not in your power to do anything about it I encourage you to oust Dr Gonzi from his seat of power immediately. If JPOS demands it I imagine it can—it should—be done.
I realise you have more pressing Peruvian problems than these silly squabbles but do take some time to reflect on the facts.
Dr Franco Debono and Dr Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando Smith are now against the party in Government. This is of course what men of steadfast steel are made of.
Only a few weeks ago they both swore allegiance and declared that they will back Government till the end of the legislature. Now that they have been deselected as PN party candidates they have made it clear that their promise is worth a bit less than zilch. Yes Mr President that is how it should be: these two men are real men who stand by their principles and never ever care about their own personal agenda. This is what the national good deserves and needs: men like them to be MPs, if possible not just for another few months but for life.
JPOS has come running to you begging you to intervene and declare that the Gonzi regime is history. But be careful because Dr Debono has said that Gonzi is now heading a dictatorship or words to that effect. Keep an extra eye open even if you are in distant Peru.
These two MPs are the real thing and offer consistency and patriotism. Theirs is just and proper behaviour worthy of the cream of our parliament’s representatives.
The consistency of these two MPs (oh where is Jesmond? How quiet is Jesmond?) is unbelievable. After somehow or other dumping GonziPN and getting the MuscatMovement in I do hope you, Mr President, will do the rightful thing and declare these two and a half men national or international heroes, to be emulated wherever a parliament exists.
You are our only true hope. Long may logic rule our land.
I remain
Awed in the eye

When I read the headline, i thought I was going to read something referring to ex-president Fenech Adami (true, I did say 'ex' but that is what came into my head). Instead, you plea for something that cannot happen as our \president is supposed to be above politics. But now we have EFA entering into the political fraty, bringing down the status of the presidency to a low level never reached before. This man's arrogance knows no limits - he still thinks Malta cannot survive with him. Will some other ex-President please talk to EFA and explain to him that an ex should not show any political leanings?

Cheap and heavy-handed sarcasm. In Maltese, we would call it "ċerċir".

Dear Mr Calleja, I have just noticed that , today, it is Ms Depares who is on the receiving end of a mighty bashing by the usual suspects. Typical.

Don't worry about JPO, Debono and Mugliett crossing the floor; they have turned GonziPN into a cross-dresser. All GonziPN requires now is makeup to turn it into a clown.

You are wasting your time! Our President finds it more expedient to go to Peru' on volunteer work than to stay in Malta and face the music! Not that I find anything wrong with the President doing this - as others said they do - but hey, the President has kept mum too much over this huge debacle which is going to lead the country into a worse mess than ever before. We need gentlemen in Parliament, not egos!
