While driving down from the Ħamrun and Guardamangia areas towards Msida, one is met on several and, recently, frequent occasions, with the road closure of Dock Street, Msida due to construction-related vehicles. Now this is a traffic artery and the main access to Msida.
There is no forewarning of any closures further up the road and drivers simply find the road blocked and a warden standing by, after crawl driving all the way down.
I suggest that a sign saying this important and busy road is closed is placed at St Luke’s Road corner with Bordin Street so that traffic may be directed towards Pietà, not proceed all the way to Msida and forced to turn back. Speaking to the warden only results in the usual banal reply: “I was sent here.” It would be most appreciated if the bright brains at Transport Malta, the warden service and local councils cooperate to ensure a smooth flow of traffic as much as possible. Going round in circles, especially at peak traffic times, is no joke and, besides the waste of precious (and expensive) fuel, it causes unnecessary pollution.
Citizens expect a better service from civil servants employed to do jobs that never seem to be done. Apparently, no one is accountable or responsible or, for that matter, sacked for carelessness.
