Reading through the article ‘Fioravanti Sammut becomes Sir Temi Zammit’ (The Sunday Times, July 1), followers of Maltese history would have failed to find any new facts on Sir Temi Zammit.

This ground had been amply covered in two lectures I had delivered at the invitation of Heritage Malta on May 13, 2004, and at the request of the Central Bank when the coin commemorating Temi Zammit was issued.

These were subsequently published in your newspaper (‘Sir Temi Zammit his life and times’, August 6 and 13, 2006) . Allowme to point out that in the 19th century the surnames Sammut and Zammit were not infrequently interchanged,
