• Victoria today celebrates the feast of St George. Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, accompanied by the basilica Chapter and clergy, leads a procession from the Episcopal Palace in Republic Street to the basilica at 8 a.m., followed by a pontifical concelebrated Mass at 8.30 a.m. Joseph Vella’s Mass in D Major in honour of St George Princeps Martyrium (1976) will be performed.

Marches by the St George’s Band of Qormi and St Michael of Żabbar will be held at 11 a.m.

Archpriest Mgr Paul Cardona leads pontifical vespers at 6 p.m., followed by the procession with the statue of St George, led by Mgr Joseph Gauci at 7.30 p.m. The La Stella Band will take part.

Festivities will end with a band march by La Stella from Republic Street to St George’s Square at 11 p.m. The St Joseph, the Mnarja and the Ite ad Joseph bands will also participate.

• Masses at Ta’ Pinu Sanctuary will be said today at 6.15 a.m., 8.30, 10, 11.15 and at 5 p.m.

• Ta’ Ħamet church will celebrate the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel tomorrow. The church rector Mgr Carmelo Hili will say Mass at 6 a.m. Solemn adoration will take place between 5.30 and 7.30 p.m., followed by a concelebrated Mass led by Mgr Grech and a pilgrimage with the statue of Our Lady.

• The diocesan Eucharistic Movement will hold a prayer evening at the Good Shepherd church, Victoria, on Saturday at 8.30 p.m., followed by Mass at midnight.

• The Bethel Charismatic Group will be holding a prayer meeting at the church of Our Lady of Pompeii, Victoria, on Saturday at 7 p.m.

• Those who would like to start kayaking around Gozo this summer can attend a meeting at Hondoq Bay (next to Hondoq kiosk) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. For more information, call Frank on 9924 9187 or e-mail frank1@melita.com.

• Following the success of Leone Goes Pop last June, the concert will be held again in Marsalforn on July 24 at 9 p.m.

It will feature Ivan Grech and Melvin Caruana, frontman and guitarist of Winter Moods, together with Gozitan singer Deborah C.
