The price of a Super 5 ticket is set to rise to €2 from €1.50 after the next draw on Wednesday, while the smallest priced ticket for lotto will be €0.50c and not €0.25 as at present.

The changes have not been officially announced, but they are being explained to callers to the Maltco helpline.

The changes come two weeks after Maltco was granted a fresh 10-year licence for the operation of national lotteries in Malta.

The company is currently holding talks with the Lotto receivers on a new contract.

It is also expected to reduce the lotto jackpot in order to reduce the possibility of lower payouts when a high number of players claim prizes.
