A man who left his dog to die of starvation was yesterday banned from ever owning animals again, conditionally discharged for three years and fined €230.

The police found the dog in a garage owned by 28-year-old Kevin Attard of Żebbuġ on May 26, at about 3.30 p.m. and the Animal Welfare Department was called in to investigate.

An autopsy was carried out and it was established that the dog had died of starvation.

Magistrate Saviour Demicoli found him guilty of animal cruelty.
