A report on the April 2012 derogation which allowed the limited sustainable hunting of turtle doves and quails in small numbers has been drawn up by the Hunters’ Federation (FKNK).

The report provides a detailed assessment showing that the binding derogation conditions were, in practice, fully respected, in accordance with the requirements of the “Birds” Directive.

The FKNK said that aware that reports it submitted in previous years, and even recommendations made by the Malta Ornis Committee, never reached the Commission, it submitted its report to the European Commission for the Environment directly.

It also forwarded a copy to the Maltese authorities.
