Shireburn Software, the software products development company, is to pay for specialist vacuum cleaners to help New Leaf volunteers preserve antique books at the National Library. “Many of the books will be removed from their shelves for the first time in 200 years,” New Leaf chairman Monique Chambers explained. “The vacuum cleaners allow us to clean surface dirt safely while examining the books’ condition before they are digitised.”
