A group of 23 legal representatives of the International Union of Lawyers from the Russian Federation and other Commonwealth of Independent States visited Malta recently as part of a week-long business delegation programme organised by local fiduciary and fund administration services group Abacus.

The delegation consisted of lawyers from across the CIS, including High Court judges of the Russian Federation, who attended meetings with the Chief Justice and Maltese Chamber of Advocates. They also attended presentations by Malta Enterprise, the Malta Financial Services Authority and the programme’s organisers, Abacus Corporate Services Limited and Abacus Fund Administration Limited.

“The IUL in the CIS has around 60,000 members. Abacus was approached by the union’s vice-president to arrange the delegation visit and networking programme,” Abacus Corporate Services chief executive Garry Crossan said. “Our objective was to provide a programme which offered networking opportunities and an informative insight into cross-border investment opportunities for CIS companies and high net worth individuals”.

Abacus’ fund services managing director Paul Kneen presented the range of services offered by Abacus from their offices in the Isle of Man and Malta.

Delegates and participants enjoyed a cocktail party, hosted by Abacus and Nexia BT, to close the week’s programme at Abacus’ offices in Mrieħel.
