Communications group Go plc has named its chief commercial officer Yiannos Michaelides as the person to take over from chief executive David Kay, who has stepped down for personal reasons.

Mr Michaelides, who was yesterday appointed deputy chief executive, will assume his new role on September 7.

He joined Go from Emirates International Telecommunications, Go’s main shareholder, having previously served as vice president of strategic marketing at Du, the United Arab Emirates telecoms operator.

He has a 20-year career in the industry and has worked with organisations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Mr Kay joined Go in 2006.

Chairman Deepak Padmanabham said the company had been transformed into an agile, modern and customer-centric quad play organisation under his leadership.
