Year 5 student Maria Abela recently won the Qalb Ġeneruża award presented annually by the Nadur parish.

The award was presented to the girl by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech at the end of a concelebrated Pontifical Mass at the Nadur Basilica on the feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

Nadur archpriest Jimmy Xerri said the student qualified for the award for her responsibility and for the care and attention she gave to others at home, at school and at the christian doctrine centre where she attended regularly.

The girl also participates in most of the events that take place in the parish church and helps Nadur social groups.
