Christopher Borg has been appointed chairman of The Malta Forum for Internal Auditors, succeeding Eugenio Privitelli who has completed his two-year term.
Mr Borg and Mr Privitelli were two of the forum’s founder members when it was established in 2007.
Previously the forum’s vice-chairman, Mr Borg has extensive experience in internal audit locally and overseas, and has pledged to work to see the forum become even more supportive of fellow professionals. He hopes to encourage more to join the organisation and contribute ideas. The forum will improve synergies with similar professional bodies to ensure better continued education and development framework for fellow peers in the field.
“Internal audit is a growing profession locally as both the public and private sector are increasingly appreciating its value added,” Mr Borg explained. “This offers new opportunities for many professionals and aspiring students.”
The forum will be planning two major events over the next weeks. A seminar themed ‘Value added by internal control’ will be organised in collaboration with RSM International in September.
In November, an international conference themed ‘The Internal Auditor – value added to both audit committee and management’, will feature a line-up of local and non-Maltese speakers. Information will be uploaded at www.fiamalta.org.
