The creativity and innovative ideas of art and design institute students at the Malta Council of Arts, Science and Technology are being showcased in the institute’s 11th annual exhibition.

Hundreds of artistic and design creations with a different and fresh outlook of concepts, objects and art forms are on display at Tarġa Gap, Mosta.

Inspired by this year’s theme, Refreshments Provided, students played around with the phrase that is usually associated with celebrations, ceremonies and social events.

The exhibition celebrates the artistic talents of students but also offers visitors food for thought through installations and designs that incorporate different media, materials and technologies.

The exhibition was opened by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi earlier this week and runs until tomorrow.

It will be open between 3.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. today and from 3.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. tomorrow.

More than 700 students are enrolled on the institute’s full-time courses, which range from an introductory certificate to bachelors degrees.

Mcast has several collaborations with employers, organisations and government entities to provide students with hands-on experiences, exposing them to the latest technologies and practices .

The exhibition demonstrates this relationship through the projects students produced for firms such as Fino, Domestica, Camilleri Paris Mode, Yellow Pages, Farsons, Toly Products, Banif Bank, Heritage Malta, the Office of the President, the Office of the Children’s Commissioner, Valletta local council, the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts and Valletta 2018 Foundation.
