Breno: Former Bayern Munich defender Breno, 22, was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison by a Munich court yesterday after being found guilty of setting fire to his own house last year. Breno was found to have started the fire that almost totally destroyed his luxury house in the Munich suburb of Gruenewald. He was believed to have been drunk at the time.

Sigurdsson: Tottenham comple­ted the signing of Hoffenheim midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson yester-day, one day after the appointment of new Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas. Sigurdsson was one of the revelations of the Premier League last season after excelling during a loan spell for Swansea.

United: Man. United will return to Hanover for the first time since 1965 to play the final match of their pre-season tour. Their match against Hanover will take place on August 11 at the AWD Arena.

Guzan: Aston Villa keeper Brad Guzan is close to re-signing for the club. He left last season after failing to put pen to paper to a new contract. But new Villa boss Paul Lambert is under-stood to be an admirer of Guzan. Villa are hoping Guzan will sign up before the start of a three-game tour of America.

Dodo: Brazilian defender Dodo has completed his transfer to Roma. The 20-year-old full-back joins from Corinthians and has put pen to paper on a five-year contract. Dodo becomes Roma’s second summer signing after the arrival of Brazilian striker Marquinho.

Favre: Bor. M’gladbach have extended the contract of coach Lucien Favre until 2015. The former Hertha Berlin coach has led the club from the brink of relegation to a place in the Champions League in just over 12 months and has now been rewarded with a new deal.
