The European Championship just ended in Poland and Ukraine saw England fail once more to proceed after losing out in a penalty shoot-out.
This time it was against Italy in a quarter-final clash that finished 0-0 draw after extra-time.
In Kiev, it was the two Ashleys – Cole and Young – who failed to deliver as the Three Lions went down 2-4.
England did not deserve to advance in the competition after a rather dismal defensive showing against Italy.
This was the sixth time in seven occasions that England had failed to win a penalty lottery in a high-profile tournament.
