Intake for Diploma in VAT Compliance

The Malta Institute of Management is currently signing up the seventh intake of the Diploma in VAT Compliance through the Institute of Indirect Taxation.

The diploma offers an opportunity to better understand VAT legislation and undertake better tax planning. VAT planning has become a major activity given its complexity and directive requirements. VAT form filing involves viable planning and compliance issues: although some tax advisers focus primarily on direct taxation, they may fail to plan the VAT aspect efficiently.

With a pragmatic approach based on practical case studies, the diploma takes into consideration practical needs of the busy professional. All examinations and tests are held online and students may sit for the exam and tests at a date and time convenient to them. Tests and exams are held for those wishing to attain the diploma. Persons who wish to attend and attain an attendance certificate may opt to do so.

Attendance qualifies towards CPE hours for accountants.

To sit for the modular tests and examination candidates must register with The Institute of Indirect Taxation.

The diploma’s 17 sessions cover Maltese VAT legislation, liability of the supply, when to recover input tax, the Capital Goods Scheme and Special Schemes, partial exemption, VAT records, VAT return and accounting for VAT, control visits, appeals and assessments and other issues.

Lectures are held once a week for approximately six months. Successful students will be entitled to write the designatory letters IIT (DIP) after their name.
