Arriva workers return to GWU
Most Arriva workers who resigned from the GWU a few days ago have now withdrawn their resignation, the GWU said this afternoon.
It said it will be informing the company of the development.
The GWU said that Arriva employees were realising that only the GWU was able to safeguard their interests and that it was doing its best to get them the best conditions.
The union said that another long meeting was held with the company yesterday during which its proposals for the first collective agreement continued to be discussed. Another meeting is being held on Saturday.
Yesterday, the union insisted that meetings should continue to be held regularly for an agreement to be reached within three weeks.
It appealed to workers to remain united within the union to give it the strength it needed to negotiate.

Jien nibqgha nghid li l-istorja taghlimna li house unions illum qed ikunu iktar ippreferuti minn unions generali kbar. Dan huwa stat ta` fatt. Pero ma jistax ikolok sezzjoni wahda li tkun maqsuma fi tnejn. Hawn ha jkollok tahwid u glied. Jew il-haddiema kollha jinghaqdu f`house union wahda inkellha jibqghu f`union generali wahda. F`dan il-kaz il-haddiema iddecidew tajjeb. Jew kulhadd jew inkella jibqghu satus quo. Jien nawgura il-haddiema kollha ta` l-Arriva li l-ghaqda hija iktar importanti mill-isem tal-union. Fl-ghaqda hemm is-sahha. Fil-bicciet hemm it-tifrik.

Arriva workers should consult the "dockers union" to see whether they are better off after their departure from GWU.

Naqbel li il-haddiema ikunu imsehba f'Union imma naqbel ukoll li l-union (specialment meta din tkun il-GWU) taggixxi dejjem ghal interest tal-haddiema u mhux minn warra il kwienti tkun qieghdha taghmel biex tharbat dak li jkun qieghed iwwetaq il gvern (Nationalista) bhal dan il-kass rigward it-transport publiku. Ma immorrux il-boghod kullhadd jaf x'kienet taghmel din l-Union fiz=zmien Id-Drydoks meta ghal kull haga ta' xejn kienet tordna stikes left, right and centre biex taghti il-qambetti l-amministrazzjoni nazzjonalista basta takkommoda il partit ta' Mintoff. Naqbell ukoll li ikun hemm verifika biex tikkonferma li il-GWU fil- fatt tirrapresenta il-majjoranza tal-membri imsiehbin fieghha.

Mela insejt meta I-UHM talbet żieda fil-ġimgħa ta' LM9 jew *22 euro* tal-lum fl-1997, u marret tagħmel strajk il-freeport? Kul UNION għandha simpatija lejn xi partit, b'differenza, min fejn tħares, jew jekk tilbess nuċċali b'lenti blue jew ħomor. Insejt kemm il- UHM daqqet trumbetti favur l-EWROPA Ħabieb? Għax ma tejdx li it-tarzna kien hemm skopp biex ifalluha. Nemmen li la jinkixfu il-borom, jek il- ħniena t'ALLA tried, toħroġ intiena qawwija f'dal-pajjiż. Il-ħaddiem għamel passi ta ġgant bis-saħħa tal-GWU. Ħa infakrek punti kardinali, 52 sibt vaganza għal ħaddiema, min 8, telaw għal 20 ġurnata leave, nisa u irġiel listess PAGA, paga minima bi dritt diċenti, dritt ta' tribunal f'każ ta' tkeċċieja ta ħaddiem, terminal benifits għal min jispiċċa bla xogħol. Dak l-izbal li qiegħed jagħmel il-ħaddiem Malti li nesa min fejn telaq. U zball akbar min One TV u One Radio+PL, li mhux ifakkru li dal poplu min xix għadda.

I cant' understand this latest round of GWU-bashing. if anything, the GWU can negotiate realistically and responsibly with Arriva on behalf of the workers. Some of the workers wanted to leave the GWU because they felt it was not being militant enough, infact.

I just can't understand these Labour elves, we all know on who's side the GWU is..............while on the otherside, the new House Union had PL star candidate as their lawyer!
What's the difference, let them be.................its a free country!

@Mr.Tabone,
Can you please stop trying to denigrate us labour supporters, by calling us elves. Do not stoop so low in trying to diminish Labour's image. If you have any problem and you want to meet me I'm far from being an elf. Hope you are not in the business and hate the unions, so you can pay your employees peanuts.

Dan huwa sempliciment x’qeghda tghid il-gwu. Ma nahsibx li ser tghid mod iehor. Isma (u aqra) BILFORS u emmen JEKK TRID jghid il-Malti.
Nissuggerixxi li l-kumpanija ARRIVA ghadha taqbad il-barri minn qrunu u titlob li ssir dik l-famuza VERIFIKA mid-Direttur tax-Xoghol u r-Relazzjonijiet Industrijali. Il-gwu jafu tajjeb x'inhi din il-verifika ghax fejn iridu u fejn jaqblilhom juzawha hafna, u fejn ma jaqblilhomx ma juzawhiex.
