A group of 50 Grade 9 students from San Andrea School, L-Imselliet, together with their teachers, recently went on an educational day trip to Sicily.

On arriving at Pozzallo, the students made their way, by coach, to Archimede, Syracuse.

Their first stop was the Archaeological Park of Neapolis, where they saw the Greek theatre, which is one of the finest of its kind, the Latomia del Paradiso, as well as the huge cave called the Ear of Dionysius. They also saw the Roman amphitheatre.

They then proceeded to the Museo Archaeologico Regionale Paolo Orsi which includes an artefact originating from the Tarxien temples.

After lunch at Ortigia, they went on a guided tour of some of the island’s main attractions including a visit to the Duomo, where apart from exploring the cathedral, they also saw a Sicilian wedding take place.
