Eleven high-ranking Libyan air force and coastguard officers and two members of the Armed Forces of Malta completed a four-week training programme in search and rescue mission coordination.

The programme was held at the AFM’s Maritime Safety and Security Training Centre within Safi Barracks.

The Libyan officers came from air force bases in Tripoli and Benghazi and from the coastguard bases at Tripoli, Benghazi and Tobruk.

The course focused on maritime search planning and was designed for personnel who operate as search and rescue mission coordinators in a specialised centre.
