Treeless promenade in Xgħajra

Walking through the small village of Xgħajra, by the sea, I could not help notice the lack of trees on its promenade.

With all the wide roads and pavements that have recently been upgraded, surely some kind of greenery should have been included but, alas, roads and concrete stand out. Is the local council against trees?

@Murray-no.but the trees here are not properly taken care of, and will grow and grow, and obstruct the seaview, which is spectecular, and is as nature made it.

To state that there is no Need for trees at Xghajra shows the myopic view that there is of trees on this island, It is obvious that Clarie Busutill does not understand the strong winds that the area is exposed to from the north and east quadrant, trees aound the village, especially on the promenade would shield the houses from these winds. Trees would also insulate the houses from the heat of the sun. as well as give a pleasant shade for people to walk and sit under to enjoy what Ms Busutill referred to as "wonderful sea view "
Unfortunately this is the kind of statements that we are used to in Malta which has caused the eradication of many hundreds of trees from our streets, leading to hotter nosier and more polluted towns and villages.
