Dump the plastic bag

Last Saturday, I stopped at our stationery shop for some envelopes and, to my surprise, I noticed that The Times newspaper was not wrapped in the plastic bag as has been the case of the Saturday publications a few weeks back (since the publication of the new TV Guide, to be exact).

Why does one have to resort to this sort of offence against the environment, considering that The Sunday Times, apart from the fact of having more pages in most instances, is accompanied by various coloured magazines and, yet, is not wrapped in plastic?

The least one can do is to use biodegradable plastic that does not damage the environment.

I am a regular reader of this particular newspaper, however, I will refuse to purchase future copies wrapped in plastic.

Ramon, upon EU membership, we had to ditch the bottling of soft drinks in returnable glass bottles and instead use plastic ones so as not to be in competition with foreign bottlers (according to the EU big heads).

The result was a huge increase of plastic waste plus an increase in the price of soft drinks.
