The first matches from the BOV Knock-Out for Premier and First Division clubs will be played at the National Pool this weekend.

With the opening phase of the National Championship now concluded, the second most prestigious honour in Maltese waterpolo will be decided over the next nine days.

The programme gets underway today when Sirens take on Exiles in the first match of the two-legged quarter-final.

These two teams meet again on Sunday with the winner setting up a semi-final showdown with Sliema. The opening leg of this semi-final is scheduled for next Tuesday.

Holders Neptunes, who beat Exiles in last year’s KO final, have a tough task as they face neighbours San Ġiljan in the semis.

While the Reds, who claimed top spot at the end of the league’s preliminary round, will be seeking to open a commanding lead ahead of Wednesday’s second leg, the Saints, third in the championship, are eyeing a strong performance to keep alive their chances of progressing to the final.

The finals of both the Premier and Division One KO will take place tomorrow week.
