l-orizzont had withdrawn libellous declarations against the Bishop of Gozo made on August 1 last year, the Gozo Curia said.

The newspaper had alleged that the Gozo Curia wanted the Gozo minister's brother - Dun Mikiel Attard -  to be beatified before the general election. The story also mentioned a marriage annulment case.

In a declaration, the newspaper's editor and the reporter declared that they considered Bishop Mario Grech  as being motivated solely by pastoral matters without any other considerations, and claims of improper actions made in the article were not true.
