In court as football rivalry gets out of hand
Football rivalry between brothers-in-law landed one of them in court today as an argument during the England-Italy match went offside.
30-year-old Clinton Attard, of Fgura, was accused of taunting and assaulting the police in Marsascala on Sunday evening.
The court was told that the accused, an England supporter, got into an argument with his brother-in-law, who supported Italy. When the police intervened the accused assaulted and threatened the officers.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted bail against a personal guarantee of €2,000.
Brawls were also reported after the match in Bugibba.
