Pullicino Orlando’s three challengers
Photo: Darrin Zammit Lupi
Two former ministers and a government MP yesterday challenged fellow backbencher Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando to name the 10 government MPs who, he claimed, wished to vote in favour of the opposition motion censuring Malta’s EU permanent representative Richard Cachia Caruana.
Louis Deguara, Jean Pierre Farrugia and Censu Galea were speaking during the adjournment of the House.
Dr Farrugia also claimed that it was absurd that internal PN affairs had been leaked to the media.
He mentioned an e-mail he had circulated to other MPs for internal consumption, which had been leaked.
It was also unjust that Dr Pullicino Orlando had claimed that 10 MPs were in agreement with him but failed to mention them in detail.
He challenged the Nationalist MP to name these MPs.
After Dr Pullicino Orlando’s allegations, the PN had issued a signed declaration by the 33 government MPs who had voted against the motion, saying that it was not true that anyone of them had any intention to vote for the Opposition motion.
But in response Dr Pullicino Orlando declared he would not reveal the names.

"....the PN had issued a signed declaration by the 33 government MPs who had voted against the motion, saying that it was not true that anyone of them had any intention to vote for the Opposition motion."
IT IS CLEAR THAT THE DECLARATION BY THE 33 GOVERNMENT MP's WAS NOT TAKEN UNDER OATH. AM I CORRECT? IF IN THE AFFIRMATIVE THAN NATIONALIST MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT DR. JEFFREY PULLICINO ORLANDO WITHOUT ANY DOUBT IS TELLING THE TRUTH.

If what JPO is saying is a fact , he MUST give the names of those MPs who were expressing themselves in
favour of the PL motion. If however. he refuses to do so , HE IS A Chicken.

So it's a shame that the public knows what's going on behind the curtain. The shame is that there is such turmoil not that it's comes out. La verita offende. It is about time that we know what kind of people we put in parliament. I am ashamed to have elected this government time and time again. Now I have enough to go by and give my vote to nobody. I have simply lost faith in both parties. They are both wolves in lamb's clothing.

Could be any body, could be himself, who knows the important thing is to through doubt on JPO. Let's not forget that an email for internal consumption by PBO ended on a PL's official mobile.

What a joke of a party the PN is being transformed into. They lack the political and ethical disposition to call an election even at the risk of being ridiculed not by the opposition, but worse still from their own disillusioned members. Joseph Muscat had hinted a while ago that the more time the PN procrastinates to call an early election the more harm they would be doing not only to themselves (not a problem because nobody gives a hoot whether they vanish or not) but to the frail economy of this Island.

The PN's clan is in dire straights. I can hardly remember a time worst than this in the Party's history. Every issue, every dispute opens a can of worms. Some motives are personal but most are politically motivated. I never stopped believing that the Gonzi vs Dalli rivalry could eventually bring the party to the situation it is in today. The party needs to stop, think and restructure itself from within. It needs a thorough clean-up. I'm sure that it will eventually re emerge stronger than ever before.
Former PN secretary Joe Saliba, was a very wise man. He saw this coming and resigned in glory! Eddie Fenech Adami was the man who come what may managed to keep the party together, because he was a true leader. Persons like the late profs. Serracino Inglot, who were the mentors and strategists behind the party remain irreplaceable. All this together with demise of Louis Galea and the same John Dalli, certainly did not help Dr. Gonzi to retain control within the party.

Dr. Pullicino Orlando, now you are in a fix and you have lost all your credibility. Meanwhile, having removed RCC from his most EU-wide respected position in Brussels with your help, the PL will be finding lots of brick walls in Brussles once it gets into the seat of power.
All the PL needs to do is just keep on digging itself into a deep hole from which it would not be able to climb out of. Pity that it will be Malta that suffers. We shall have 5 years of PL-power and then another 20 years of repairing the damage done during those 5 years. It's a game of sn_akes and ladders.

Dr Pullicino Orlando declared he would not reveal the names. Hekk tghid l-ahhar sentenza tal-artiklu tat-Times of Malta. Jekk veru ghandu provi ta dak li qal bil-privilleg ma ghandux jibza li jikxef l-ismijiet meta mod specjali qed jigi mitlub minn shabu stess sabiex jaghmel dan. Li tghid affarijiet bhal dawn u minkejja li ghandek darek mal hajt sabiex tizvela l-ismijiet u ma taghmilx hekk l-indikkazjonijiet huma li jew mhux qed jghid il-verita jew inkella dak li qal huwa parti minn strategija biex juri li mhux qiehged wahda. Inti bhala rapprezentant talpoplu ghandek l-obligu u d-diover li tinforma lil poplu u mhux tinheba wara l-imunita parlamentari biex tivvinta stejjer li tkun hlomt bihom.

what about showing the said sms of the 10 government MPs to only one person who is trusted by both parties with guarantees that the names aren't made public? If it is true that these exist and they would like to remain anonymous it's only fair to keep their names secret but on the other hand everybody has a right to know who is lying and who is saying the truth... these are very serious allegations and to be honest (and I am sure there are many people like me) I do not know who to believe.... Everything is possible and we have been seeing so many charades from both sides of parliament that I do not belive anything that is said anymore unless proof is presented.

This is why GONZI PN should call an election, why is he scared???? These people are not, he should take a leaf from there book.May it be for personal gain or not, we shall never know but once in ones life, we must stand up and be counted and speak our mind.
