The government has concluded that a claim by the Malta Police Association for overtime payment was baseless, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi told Michael Falzon (PL) in Parliament yesterday.

Dr Gonzi said the decision had been arrived at following renewed analysis of the provisos of an agreement that had come into force in June 1993, as well as Police Circular 63/93 in September that year.

He added that the government and the association were working together to arrive, as soon as possible, at new measures that would help to consolidate police work and enhance members’ conditions of work.
