Indecent UK press
MOC president Lino Farrugia Sacco
The president of the Malta Olympic Committee, Lino Farrugia Sacco, and his general secretary should not be facing any sleepless nights over the trumped up investigation instigated by our brave, new Minister for Justice. It would seem that what properly needs looking into in this case is the behaviour of the correspondents of The London Times who undertook this sham interview outside their own country acting as agents provocateurs.
Once more in spite of the recent several inquiries held in the UK on the ethical standards of the British press, a leading London Sunday paper is indulging in dubious ethical press practices to extract from the unwary news of a topical and sensational nature. How much will it take for the British press to behave decently?

Ten years ago I had two people working at home and they were limousine drivers who drove court officials around the island including Judges and families. it is so interesting what you hear from such people with such close contact with important people. I wonder if there is anything in that saying, " Where there is smoke............... etc". I really do not know what to say. Being in certain positions, sometimes it is difficult to serve two master,

In my opinion, as I see it, Judge Lino Farrugia Sacco's position, being a judge of our law courts, and his other work as President of the Malta Olympic Committee, is untenable. The two positions however one looks at it, don't go together.

Brilliant, let's blame the messenger why don't we? What is the relevance which country the journalists came from. The Olympic Chromite works on an international level. The journalists were merely doing their job. I only wish ours would do theirs. Let me repeat a few questions I asked a few days ago. How many Maltese bought tickets from the MOC? How was this advertised? How much does the MOC have to gain from selling tickets abroad. How much are they going for. How much of that will be ploughed into training of Maltese sportsmen?
I would question the ethical standards of the correspondent. Perhaps he should tell us what his links are with the MOC

I don't agree. It would be great if our media carried out similar investigations. That is one of the roles of the media - not simply to dish out propoganda for the party they support.

Yes I agree with Mr Muscat but the point is that the person involved is no ordinary person .

That's all very well, but it's better to be sure, no?
