An Italian fishermen was air lifted to Mater Dei Hospital by the AFM last night after suffering severe chest pain.

The 37-year-old fisherman was on board the fishing vessel Naucratus, some 113 nautical miles southeast of Malta.

On receiving the report at around 11.45 p.m., an Italian helicopter with a mixed Italo-Maltese crew was sent to the area, where rescuers winched the patient who was then transferred to hospital.
