Marsalforn and other parts of Gozo were blanketed in fog this morning, inspiring reader Claire Marie Gauci to take these photos.

@Mark Mifsud Bonnici. A lot of people wake up early in the morning. Especially people who live on the outskirts of villages, such as farmers and pig breeders & fishermen, etc. Also about 98% of people always go to the earliest mass possible, Malta being the only genuine country in the whole wide world....

this natural fog is so much better than the fumes we had to inhale yesterday at ghajn tuffieha, from all those BBQ S there! such an awful feeling, they should be banned from sandy beaches,,,,,,,, we couldn t breath. and we had to leave

The problem isn't the bbq per se. It's the stupid instant light charcoal that most people prefer to use. I use the proper thing with no added crap. It's a pig to light but a 2 minute blast with a blowtorch is all it requires. I refuse to add any lighter fluid or petrol or paraffin to it for the plain and simple reason that it's poisonous and even if it gets burned off, the food will absorb some of the taste. People cannot understand that a bbq is not a hurried affair and needs to take time to be set up properly. Some patience goes a long way. Your food will taste better and the people around you will not be bothered with noxious fumes.

Yes I agree with you Maria, but in Marsalforn not everything is rosey. If you go near the restaurants operating in the Menqa area you will be met by a strong foul smell of cigarette smoking coming out of the enclosed spaces
where food is served to clients. Is this not illegal? Second hand smoking is detrimental to health. Are there no policemen in Marsalforn? Would it be too much to draw the attention of the owners of these outlets that smoking in these areas is also illegal and No Smoking signs should be prominently displayed.

Great pictures and in a couple of weeks I shall be reading my Malta Times not on my Ipad but from the actual paper because I will be in those beautiful islands on Holiday .

If we respect the country side , Gozo will be a very nice place to live and visit.

Oh what beauitful pics!
Oh What Beautiful Pics!
OH WHAT BEAUTIFUL PICS!
If Malta can fix 3 things (the state of the majority of the roads, the crazy way people drive AND the obession with politics) MALTA, and in particular Gozo, really could be the envy of the world.

the photos are very pretty and certainly offer a photographer a different aspect however i would call this mist, not fog, and it is not really that unusual is it?
there have been times when the houses on the opposite side of the street looked hazy and the corner of the road a few doors down was almost invisible.

How envious I am reading that fog and mist offer "rare" photo opportunities! The opposite is more likely to be true here in Scotland where a break in the fog or mist occasionally may occur! Slight exaggeration perhaps but with more than a grain of truth!

How very right Mark. People think that hunting is just about shooting.

It is just about shooting. Or, not just about shooting, but about shooting and killing. You don't need to be a hunter to wake up early.

In fact, hunting contributes to the destruction of such beautiful scenes.
