Venditti is due to perform in Malta

Following the success achieved with last year’s Zucchero concert, Standout Events recently announced their next event will be a live concert by Italian singer-songwriter Antonello Venditti.

Venditti had previously given a stripped-down piano performance in Malta in 2001 but, as he divulged during a recent press conference, he has also visited the island privately in recent years.

Venditti, accompanied by his rock band, will perform at the MFCC , Ta’ Qali, on August 24.

A veteran of the Italian music scene and one of its most popular artists, Venditti has a considerable following in Malta.

To date he has released over 30 albums, the latest is 2011’s Unica, which features the controversial Berlusconi-inspired song La ragazza del Lunedi (Silvio).

Venditti’s Malta concert is part of his ongoing Unica 2012 tour and will also feature a special opening performance from top Maltese rock band Winter Moods, reviving a connection first established when both parties had performed at the 2001 Malta Music Awards.
