The courts this morning upheld a request by the Labour Party for its billboards to remain in place.

The party took the matter  to court after it was informed that the billboards depicting Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi covering his ears and closing his eyes were about to be removed by Transport Malta. The PL requested an injunction against the removal.

Transport Malta argued that Labour had not filed an application for the billboards to be installed and claimed they were distracting and could cause an accident.

But the PL insisted the billboards posed no threat whatsoever.

Madame Justice Anna Felice this morning ruled that no evidence had been brought to court to show that the billboards were dangerous.

She upheld Labour's request for the billboards to remain in place.
