Arriva, the bus company, has invited the General Workers’ Union to discuss its drivers’ collective agreement next week, after the union warned of “serious repercussions” if the company continued to refuse to discuss salaries. Arriva said the union had accepted the invitation. The union had claimed the company was ignoring its ultimatum to return to talks on improving the drivers’ financial conditions, forcing it to register an industrial dispute. In a statement issued before it received the invitation, the GWU said it was ready to take industrial action over the issue.
