Columnist Daphne Caruana Galizia says she will sue Nationalist MP Jeffrey Pullicino Orlando for claims he made in court last October and again in Parliament on Monday after seeking legal advice.

In Parliament, Dr Pullicino Orlando repeated a claim he made under oath during a libel case that Ms Caruana Galizia told him PN strategist Mr Cachia Caruana instigated a campaign to force him to resign his seat after the 2008 election.

Ms Caruana Galizia rejected what Dr Pullicino Orlando said, noting that she had already denied such claims in court. She said she would have sued him for slander had he not been covered by parliamentary privilege.

Asked by The Times to repeat his claim without parliamentary privilege, Dr Pullicino Orlando yesterday did so, adding he said the same in court when he was not protected by any privilege.

When contacted, Ms Caruana Galizia said she would sue the MP for libel whenever he made such claims and also sue media editors that reported them.
