The restored façade of the Precursor Band Club of Xewkija will be inaugurated this week.

The premises, used as a boys’ school in 1861, will be inaugurated by band club president Louis Vella and Justice Minister Chris Said and blessed by archpriest Mgr Carmelo Mercieca on Tuesday.

A musical programme, under the direction of Anthony Borg, will be held in St Catherine Street between 9 and 11 p.m.

The La Nativita di San Giovanni Battista hymn will be sung with the participation of the society’s choir.

To mark the occasion, an exhibition, entitled Il-Kult tal-Battista matul iż-Żminijiet will be open at the band club between Wednesday and next Sunday. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Gozo Minister Giovanna Debono.

Opening hours are from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and between 6 and 11 p.m.
