Fred Perry collection for women

Fred Perry recently launched its new collection for women.

Inspired by the brands archives on sportswear, the collection is based on three themes – Team Travel, Track and Field, and Downtime.

Team travel features a smarter look for the sportswoman. Key pieces include the high-waisted chino in oyster and a high-waisted chambray short in kit blue, both of which are fitted with waist adjusters based on those found on vintage Fred Perry shorts.

These can then be worn with the gingham shirt available in gingersnap and kit blue or the chambray racer back vest in blue jay. To complete the look a traditional three pocket blazer, made with 100 per cent cotton, has been introduced.

Track and Field is dedicated to the sportswoman who is perfecting her skills out on the track. The collection features a crew neck sweat in both kit blue and vintage red and a sweat dress in vintage steel marl.

In classic sportswear style, colour blocking can be seen throughout the collection. This can be found on the cotton jersey vest, colour blocking T-shirt and jersey dress.

The range also includes lo tech natural fabrics such as hemp with a cotton mix. The colours complement this with a palette that has a strong retro feel featuring gingersnap orange, vintage ivory white and kit blue – all of which enhance the faded vintage look.

Downtime, the more relaxed collection for the sportswoman in holiday mode, features prints that give a fun, feminine touch to the collection. This can be seen in the summer check button down shirt dress in sweetcorn, made with a seersucker fabric that gives the top a more laid-back feel.

The printed cap sleeve shirt with its clean graphic leaf print available in snow white or kit blue and the irregular polka dot shirt dress in black with red and ivory are both based on original 1940s prints and add a touch of elegance to the underlying sport theme.

The key pieces to finish off any traditional Fred Perry look are the lightweight duffle coat in oyster or kit blue and the chambray parka in cloudburst.
