Four Maltese nationals recently won German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) scholarships following a call for applications that thousands of students worldwide replied to. German ambassador Hubert Ziegler presented the scholarships to the four students who are due to embark on their respective courses in July.

Carla Farrugia received a grant for doctoral candidates for research she is conducting at Humboldt University, Berlin. Lisa Marie Zammit and Naomi Bartolo will undertake summer courses at Humboldt University and Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main, respectively, while Lynette Camilleri will take part in an intensive language course at the Herder Institute of the University of Leipzig.

Every year the DAAD enables around 74,000 German and foreign students, graduates and academics to study either in Germany or abroad. For more information visit www.daad.de.
