The Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay recently hosted its second Health and Safety Week for Corinthia Hotels.
The event, organised with the help of Corinthia Hotels head office and coordinated by Jacqueline Tanti Dougall, legal adviser to the group on health and safety, strove to highlight the importance the group gives to the health and well-being of its team members.
Health, safety and security officers from Panorama Hotel Prague and Corinthia Hotel Tripoli also joined in, together with employees from the three hotels in Malta: Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay, Corinthia Palace Hotel and Spa and Marina Hotel, Corinthia Beach Resort.
Activities included a variety of talks that dealt with various aspects of health and safety. The week kicked off with a generic overview on health and safety, followed by fire training.
A full day was devoted to emergency response, with team members being trained on the basics of first aid. Other training sessions included accident investigation and risk assessment. Food safety in line with European legislation and Maltese law was also covered.
The three Corinthia hotels also made arrangements for the mobile blood donation unit to call during the week, encouraging team members to contribute to the health of the community and the participation in this was excellent.
Corinthia Hotel St George’s Bay general manager Stuart Chappell, who hosted Safety Week, said: “This is an event we insist on holding regularly as we value the welfare of both our team members and guests. These courses are held specifically to ensure that we always have a team of experts who are well-versed in health and safety and that their training is continually refreshed and updated.”
